APPNA Medical Corps: Guatemala Mission

Since 2016, APPNA has run week-long medical missions once or twice a year to School Esperanza in Cobán, Guatemala, giving basic care to children and adults in a very poor community.

  • Who: Primary care physicians, plus students, residents and PAs/NPs. Doctors may bring one teenage or college-age child.
  • How to join: Fill in the volunteer form, send your CV, a short statement and the liability waiver, then show proof of airfare 6 weeks before the trip. Volunteers pay their own travel, lodging and food.
  • Schedule: Arrive in Guatemala City on Saturday, travel to Cobán on Sunday, hold clinics Monday to Wednesday, return Thursday, tour Antigua Friday and fly home Saturday.
  • Impact: 280–431 patients seen per mission.
